Block copolymers with styrene as hard segment and olefin as soft segment, combining rubber elasticity and plastic processability.
TPE-S is the most widely applied type of thermoplastic elastomer in the market. Its hardness can be precisely tailored by adjusting the ratio between styrenic blocks and soft elastomer segments, covering a typical range from Shore A 10 to 95. The material can be processed by conventional extrusion or injection molding without the need for vulcanization, providing high processing efficiency and stable quality control. TPE-S offers excellent flexibility, good fatigue resistance, and a smooth surface appearance with high gloss. It maintains reliable elasticity under low-temperature conditions and exhibits good compatibility with common thermoplastics such as PP and PS, making it suitable for overmolding and polymer blending applications. Due to its molecular structure, the continuous service temperature is generally limited to 70 °C or below, and its resistance to oils is considered moderate.
