Dynamic vulcanized blends with PP (polypropylene) as continuous phase and EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) as dispersed phase, combining high elasticity of rubber and processability of plastic.
Prepared by dynamic vulcanization technology, the rubber phase is fully crosslinked during processing and forms micron-sized particles dispersed in the PP matrix, with hardness range Shore A 35 - Shore D 55. The core advantage is excellent elastic recovery, weather resistance (UV and ozone resistance) and high-temperature resistance (continuous service temperature ≤150℃) brought by the fully crosslinked structure, while also having chemical corrosion resistance (acid, alkali and oil resistance) and low VOC characteristics, environmentally friendly, non-toxic and 100% recyclable. Compared with TPO, TPV has higher crosslinking degree (nearly full vulcanization), better elasticity and aging resistance, but slightly inferior processing fluidity and greater difficulty in formula adjustment. The disadvantage is that elongation at break is lower than TPS, and some grades are more expensive than ordinary TPE.
